“Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Proverbs 18:21 CEB
For a small muscle the tongue carries a lot of weight.
It can spark a movement of change.
It can tear down governments.
It can start wars and cause wars to cease.
One can cause a ripple but thousands can cause a tsunami.
It can make a person feel like a million bucks.
The same tongue can make you feel worthless.
It can encourage.
It can enrage.
It can comfort.
It can cause pain.
It can offer blessings or curses.
It can be beautiful and graceful or it can bitter and toxic.
All of this is because of one small muscle.
It projects whatever the heart and mind tells it to.
Once the words are uttered they can’t be taken back.
We must be mindful of how we use our tongues.
It can be used to speak life and death.
So be careful about how you use it.
Our children are listening.
Our communities are listening.
Our nations are listening.
The world is listening.
So which path will you choose, life or death?
On this day, I choose life.
