“Don’t let this throw you. You trust God, don’t you? Trust me. There is plenty of room for you in my Father’s home. If that weren’t so, would I have told you that I’m on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I’m on my way to get your room ready, I’ll come back and get you so you can live where I live. And you already know the road I’m taking.” -John 14: 1-4
I was stranded on an old road on the outskirts of town.
Then my rental car had the nerve to break down.
I had a busted radiator and I was in a funk.
I had no cell service and no tools in the trunk.
Then came an old man in old 57 Chevy.
He was stout in stature but not too heavy.
He said ” Son don’t let this get ya down,
I’ll give you a ride into town.”
I said “Thanks for doing this for a guy who is not a friend or family member”
He said “That’s alright son. I’m just sending up my timber.”
“You see Jesus promised us all a place in His home of many rooms.
We don’t know when He’s coming’ but it’s one day soon.
Now that I know that he’s coming and on the way,
that’s why I send Jesus my timber every day.
Whether its lending a hand or offering a smile
or if it’s sitting with the sick folk for a while.
Jesus paid the price for me that I can never repay,
So I send Him my timber very day.
When I’m reading the Good Book and every time I kneel down to pray,
I’m sending Jesus my timber every day.
Ever since that hour, I repented and He took my sins away,
I’ve been finding a way to send him my timber every day.
I know I may leave here one day soon,
I hope I have a spot in one of those rooms.
He’s a master carpenter and He will build it good.
That’s why I have to send him the best wood.
I don’t care if its pine, oak, hickory, or birch,
I send it up every time I serve the church.
I have to live right every day.
That I can have a guaranteed place to stay.
So I send up my timber every day.”
Then I said ” Sir thanks for the lesson and this is my stop.
When you get your mansion way up top,
Tell Jesus I’m on my way,
and I’ll be sending my timber to him every day.”
