You say that ”We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. ”
Here is my question: Am I truly your brother?
If I’m your brother, why do you clutch your purse?
If I’m your brother, why do you move away from me in the elevator?
If I’m your brother, why do you assume I’m a threat?
If I’m your brother, why do you call the police just because you think I don’t belong?
If I’m your brother, why are so afraid of me?
What have I done to you that merits the fear and anxiety?
I was made in God’s image just like you.
I mourn the loss of a loved one just like you.
I believe that Jesus died for my sins just like you.
I take communion and pray for redemption just like you.
I love my family and will protect them just like you.
If I am your brother, then why can’t you see my soul?
Why can’t you see my humanity?
Why can’t you show me by loving me like Christ did?
