Another Thanksgiving

It’s another Thanksgiving but it’s not the same.

The relative we adored has gone home and we cry at the thought of their name.

We had to say goodbye on a screen. We couldn’t hold their hand.

Yet people say ”COVID is not real. ” Lord help them understand.

Yeah, it’s another Thanksgiving and we have plenty of food.

This year we just not in the mood.

Our meal is a lot smaller and we meet others later on zoom.

We fight back the tears as we hope to see them soon, in a future that is not filled with gloom.

We look at the end of the table where there’s an empty chair.

We sit and ask ”Ourselves do others truly care?”

We pray that we never endure this pain again in Jesus’s name.

It’s another Thanksgiving but it’s not quite the same.
