We are better

We are better than hate

We are better than violence

We are better than insurrection

We are better than listening to lies to fit our own truth

We are better than this

We let our guards down

We thought that the fringe would fizzle out

Instead the fringe has registered old wounds

The underbelly of our nation has risen to the top

They used innocent and afraid people and use their fears as weapons to attack our democracy

Try used their fears to attack the People’s House

Deep in my soul I truly believe that we are better than this

We can do our part by showing the world that what Unites us is bigger than what separates us

We can do so by not claiming red or blue and start representing the red, white, and blue

We are America

And We are better than this
